Windows Server 2003 is a Windows Server System produced by Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 is a Windows Server System produced by Microsoft.
Introduced on 24th April, it takes the place of Windows Server 2000.
Windows Server 2003 can be taken as the milestone of Windows Server
System. With years of development, Windows 2003 has become one of the
most frequently used Server Systems in the world.
Why do we need to resize Windows Server 2003 Partition?
The performance of server is very important in the network. While the management of server disk partitions is the main method to optimize the performance of servers, partitions contribute a lot to the security control and resource management, especially for a server which have a large database. Many users who partition their hard disk drive always come across a common problem: the size of their partitions cannot meet the needs.
Sometimes, the disk C will not have enough space for new applications. But new applications must be installed, what will you do?
The answer is to resize a Windows Server 2003 Partition with Partition Wizard Server Edition.
Just by the following simple steps you can resize a Windows Server 2003 Partition with Partition Wizard Server Edition in no time.
Launch the software. Select the partition on the disk map. Use Resize / Move function to resize your partitions.
Save your operations and reboot your Windows Server 2003 system, and you will have resized your Windows Server 2003 partition.

In order to optimize the performance of servers
In order to optimize the performance of servers, IT administrators
should try to shrink some partitions to make the best use of hard disks.
Shrinking partitions should be carried out by a Professional Partition Manager software since the Disk Managing function built in Windows Server is unavailable for some operations.
The most recent release of Microsoft Windows' server line of operating systems is Windows Server 2008. Windows Server 2008 is built from the same code base as Windows Vista. So, the architecture and functionality have some in common.
As a Windows Server 2008 user you should already have found that partition management is not an easy task. Unreliable software might destroy all your important data during the process of shrinking partition on Windows Server 2008 Operating System.
Sometimes, you might need to shrink some partitions to ensure the stability and liability of your servers. Such as when a boot partition C: drive is out of place, the server computer will be fighting for the precious space and will run slowly. To start over is a solution but no one would like to waste their time to do it. The most time-saving and easy way is to shrink another partition with a reliable partition server 2008 manager software.
Partition Wizard Server Edition - A Powerful and Professional Partition Manager
Partition Wizard Server Edition is a Professional Partition Manager with innovative designs and powerful functions.
With MiniTool Partition Manager, you can perform Server partition management quickly and easily.
You can shrink server partition on Windows 2008 using the same process as on Windows Vista. For example, if you want to shrink a partition, such as the D: Drive in your Windows Server 2008 Operating System, MiniTool Partition Manager is the perfect choice for you. It allows you freely shrink a partition in Windows Server 2008 without destroying data.
The steps are as follows:
1. Select D: Then click Partitions > Resize/ Move.
On the disk diagram, the current size of all the partitions on your system is displayed. The diagram also depicts free space surrounding the partition if any exists. The maximum sizes that you can shrink a partition depend on the usage of the partition.
2. Position the mouse on the left or right partition handles and drags the handle to shrink to the partition size you want.
3. Reboot your Windows Server 2008 Operating System. You now have a shrunken D: drive. With the unallocated space you can extend other partition as you wish, like C: drive.
Tip: Before shrinking partitions, backing up of your key data is strongly recommended.
If you are a server user with less than 3 machines, you may click to try or buy our Professional Partition Manager - Partition Wizard Server Edition.

What is the easiest and safest solution to repartition RAID 5?
RAID, especially RAID 5, is a technology preferred by Windows Server
users due to its great level of data reliability and input/output
performance. Thus, to optimize the usage of Windows Server, IT
administrators need to repartition RAID (RAID 5) regularly. This
article will help you gain better understanding of RAID, mainly RAID 5,
and provide the safest solution to repartition RAID (RAID 5) on Windows
Server.
What Is RAID?
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a technology that allows computer users to achieve high levels of storage reliability from low-cost and less reliable PC-class disk-drive components, via the technique of arranging the devices into arrays for redundancy.
"RAID" is now used as an umbrella term for computer data storage schemes that can divide and replicate data among multiple hard disk drives. When multiple physical disks are set up to use RAID technology, they are said to be in a RAID array. This array distributes data across multiple disks, but the array is recognized by the computer user and operating system as one single disk.
RAID is used either to improve reliability and availability of data, ensuring that important data is available more often than not, or merely to improve the access speed to files. There're several levels of RAID according to various combinations of approaches giving different trade-offs of protection against data loss, capacity, and speed, including RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 2, RAID 3, RAID 4, RAID5 and RAID 10 (1+0), etc. Among them, RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 5 are the most commonly found, and cover most requirements.
What Is RAID 5?
A RAID 5 uses block-level striping with parity data distributed across all member disks. RAID 5 has achieved popularity due to its low cost of redundancy. This can be seen by comparing the number of drives needed to achieve a given capacity. RAID 1 or RAID 10, which yields redundancy, gives only S / 2 storage capacities, where S is the sum of the capacities of N drives used. In RAID 5, the yield is S x (N-1) / N.
As an example, four 1TB drives can be made into a 2 TB redundant array under RAID 1 or RAID 10, but the same four drives can be used to build a 3 TB array under RAID 5. Although RAID 5 is commonly implemented in a disk controller, some with hardware support for parity calculations (hardware RAID cards) and some using the main system processor (motherboard based RAID controllers), it can also be done at the Operating System level. A minimum of three disks is required for a complete RAID 5 configuration. In some implementations a degraded RAID 5 disk set can be made (three disk set of which only two are online), while supports a fully-functional (non-degraded) RAID 5 setup with two disks - which function as a slow RAID1, but can be expanded with further volumes.
What is the easiest and safest solution to repartition RAID 5?
As mentioned above, due to its low cost of redundancy, RAID 5 is popular among Windows Server users. And repartitioning RAID 5 is a regular task for IT administrators to maximize the performance of their Windows Server computers. Since Windows Servers usually store the most important data of a company, IT administrators should be extremely careful when choosing software to work on their server computer, including partition software to repartition their RAID 5.
Partition Wizard Server Edition is a professional partition manager that can work perfectly well with hardware RAID, especially for RAID5.
How to repartition RAID 5 without data Loss with this partition manager?
Partition Wizard Server Edition is Compatible with all types of hardware RAID (e.g. RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 5) on both Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 and desktop 2000/XP/Vista 32 and 64 bit systems. It also provide a range of powerful functions to repartition RAID, especially RAID 5, including: Resize and Move partitions, Copy partition, Copy disk, Create and Delete partitions, Format partitions, Convert partitions, Explore partitions, set active partition, etc.
Among these functions, Partition Copy Wizard and Disk Copy Wizard offer you an easy way to back up your valuable data before any operations on your RAID 5 partition. Resize utility allows you to resize your RAID 5 without any data loss.
Below is the user-friendly interface of Partition Wizard Server Edition:
More about Partition Wizard Server Edition

You may have noticed that MiniTool Partition Manager offers a function of disk copy. And you may ask why we need to copy disks.
What is the purpose of disk copy?
Generally, we use the copy disk function to recover data, upgrade disk, and backup data.
How to use the copy disk function under Windows Vista?
Upgrade disk: If you want to upgrade your hard disk, you would probably have to copy your disk to keep your data. With this function, you can replace the older smaller hard disk with a newer larger hard disk without having to reinstall the operating system and applications. One thing you should be aware of is that the disk used as destination disk should be of at least the same size as the source disk or larger to ensure all data will be cloned onto the disk without loss.
Rescuing data: In case of hard disks defect, it is especially important to back up data to an intact medium before starting any recovery attempts because the recovery procedure may cause further defects resulting from the inherent exposure of this procedure, while the physical disk clone may cause much less exposure than any other usage due to its linear operation. After cloning, you can perform a recovery on the destination disk without fearing any further damages.
In addition to its ability to copy disks, MiniTool Partition Manager has powerful functions in partition management under Windows Vista. For Vista users, Partition Wizard has different versions of Partition Manager for different types of users.

Active partition is a disk partition in activated state
Active partition
is a disk partition in activated state. In computer booting process,
Master Boot Record verifies the partition where boot file is and
transfers boot permission to partition boot record of active partition,
and then the partition boot record uses boot files to start operating
system. In order to avoid errors during guiding operating system, there
must be only one active partition in a disk and the active partition
must be primary partition.
Many users may have the same conception: active partition is boot partition and system partition. In fact, this view is terribly wrong. Since only one active partition exists in a disk, if we want the operating system to boot normally, the active partition in system disk must be boot partition used to store boot files of operating systems, but active partition can also become other primary partition in the disk, and it can not lead operating system to booting. And, the active partition is not always system partition. For example, in the installing process of Windows 7, there is a hidden partition of 100MB in front of system partition, namely boot partition storing boot files of operating system, and it is set to be active partition by default. Seen from this, active partition may not be system partition. Seeing here, many users may raise this question: now that only active partition is boot partition can operating system is used, then if active partition is modified by computer viruses, how to restore it?
How to set active partition?
In computer use process, many users may have encountered the situation: computer viruses modify partition state, so active partition in hard disk is not boot partition and the operating system fails to boot. What should we do at this time? If we have the partition magic MiniTool Partition Wizard, we can use the distributed MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable CD to boot computer and then employ Set Active function of MiniTool Partition Wizard to set boot partition as active partition. After that, we can reboot the operating system. Next, we'll demonstrate the operation, guiding users through the partition magic.
If users have downloaded the partition magic from the website of Resize Server Partition http://www.partitionwizard.com, please use MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable CD to boot computer. The following interface will be shown.
In the interface, select the boot partition and click "Set Active" button in the left "Operations" area.
In the main interface, we can see the boot partition has become active partition, but this only a preview effect. Please click "Apply" button. After the partition magic finishes setting active partition, we can restart the operating system normally.
If your partition state has been modified by viruses and the system fails to boot normally, just use MiniTool Partition Wizard to set boot partition as active partition. The partition magic will not disappoint you.
